Comunicado Oficial de Chingón Legacy Sobre la Reprogramación de Unidos 5K + Desfile Latino

A nuestra comunidad, socios, patrocinadores y seguidores,

Después de meses de planificación, esfuerzos de coordinación y conversaciones continuas, Chingón Legacy ha tomado la difícil decisión de reprogramar oficialmente Unidos 5K + Desfile Latino para el próximo año.

Esta decisión no fue tomada a la ligera.

Desde el principio, nuestra visión para estos eventos fue clara: crear una experiencia segura, organizada, culturalmente impactante e histórica para Indianápolis y la comunidad latina. Estos eventos fueron diseñados para convertirse en el primer 5K latino y desfile de gran escala en el centro de Indianápolis durante el Mes de la Herencia Hispana.

Porque entendíamos el nivel de responsabilidad que requiere un evento de esta magnitud, los esfuerzos de planificación comenzaron desde temprano. Las conversaciones iniciales, propuestas y esfuerzos de coordinación fueron enviados desde diciembre del año pasado.

Durante los últimos meses, nuestro equipo trabajó continuamente para avanzar el proceso.

Desde febrero, estuvimos intentando activamente mantener comunicación y coordinación relacionadas con el área del Indiana War Memorial y la logística del evento a través de nuestro punto principal de contacto. Sin embargo, recientemente fuimos informados de que esta persona ya no trabajaba con la organización. Desafortunadamente, nunca fuimos notificados oficialmente sobre esta transición, lo que generó retrasos significativos de comunicación durante etapas críticas de planificación.

Además, fue apenas durante la última semana que también se nos informó que nuestra organización tendría que cubrir los costos relacionados con la presencia y apoyo policial necesarios para el área del evento. Hasta el día de hoy, a pesar de haber entregado la información y documentación requerida hace meses, nuestra organización aún no ha recibido los números finales ni detalles operativos necesarios para poder planificar y ejecutar responsablemente un evento de esta magnitud.

Para un evento de esta escala — involucrando coordinación de seguridad pública, permisos, seguros, logística de rutas, vendedores, participantes y operaciones en el centro de la ciudad — la comunicación oportuna y la información operativa finalizada son fundamentales.

A medida que los tiempos se fueron reduciendo, nuestro equipo exploró todas las posibilidades para aún poder realizar los eventos en 2026, incluyendo revisar fechas y ubicaciones alternativas en el centro de Indianápolis y el área del canal. Sin embargo, debido a conflictos de programación con otros eventos de la ciudad y disponibilidad limitada, finalmente concluimos que el tiempo restante no permitiría ejecutar estos eventos al nivel de organización, seguridad y experiencia comunitaria que nuestra comunidad merece.

Al momento de tomar esta decisión:

• Más de 170 corredores ya se habían registrado para Unidos 5K.

• Más de 35 organizaciones, nonprofits, negocios y empresas ya se habían comprometido a participar en el desfile.

El nivel de apoyo comunitario dejó algo muy claro:

Nuestra comunidad está lista para estos eventos.

Para todos los participantes registrados, las solicitudes de reembolso estarán disponibles oficialmente en nuestro sitio web comenzando este lunes. Los participantes también tendrán la opción de convertir su registro en una contribución caritativa para apoyar los programas comunitarios, iniciativas culturales y futuros eventos de Chingón Legacy. Las confirmaciones de donación para propósitos fiscales estarán disponibles al final del año.

Además, nuestros patrocinadores y aliados serán contactados directamente comenzando este lunes respecto a las opciones disponibles y próximos pasos.

También queremos dejar algo absolutamente claro: Esto no es una cancelación.Esto es una reprogramación.

Seguimos completamente comprometidos con traer Unidos 5K y Desfile Latino al centro de Indianápolis con mejores tiempos de preparación, mayor coordinación y el apoyo colaborativo necesario para ejecutar estos eventos exitosamente.

Aunque este proceso se volvió cada vez más difícil debido a circunstancias fuera del control de nuestra organización, estamos orgullosos del trabajo que nuestro equipo, voluntarios, seguidores y aliados lograron durante los últimos meses.

Chingón Legacy continuará avanzando en su misión de construir caminos hacia representación, oportunidades económicas e impacto comunitario culturalmente arraigado en Indiana.

To our community, partners, sponsors, and supporters,

After months of planning, coordination efforts, and ongoing conversations, Chingón Legacy has made the difficult decision to officially reschedule the Unidos 5K + Desfile Latino to next year.

This decision was not made lightly.

From the beginning, our vision for these events was clear: to create a safe, organized, culturally impactful, and historic experience for Indianapolis and the Latino community. These events were designed to become the first large-scale Latino 5K and parade experience in Downtown Indianapolis during Hispanic Heritage Month.

Because we understood the level of responsibility required for events of this scale, planning efforts began early. Initial conversations, proposals, and coordination efforts were submitted as early as December of last year.

Over the past several months, our team worked continuously to move the process forward.

Since February, we had been actively attempting to maintain communication and coordination regarding the Indiana War Memorial area and related logistics through our original point of contact. However, we were only informed recently that this individual was no longer with the organization. Unfortunately, our organization was never notified of this transition, which created significant communication delays during critical planning periods.

In addition, only within the past week were we informed that our organization would also be responsible for covering law enforcement and police support costs associated with the event area. As of today, despite submitting required information and documentation months ago, our organization still has not received final operational numbers and cost details necessary for responsible planning and execution.

For an event of this scale — involving public safety coordination, permits, insurance, route logistics, vendors, participants, and downtown operations — timely communication and finalized operational information are critical.

As timelines became increasingly compressed, our team explored every possible avenue to still make the events happen in 2026, including reviewing alternative dates and locations throughout Downtown Indianapolis and canal-area venues. However, due to existing city scheduling conflicts and limited availability, we ultimately concluded that the remaining timeframe would not allow us to execute these events at the level of organization, safety, and community experience our city deserves.

We believe transparency matters.

At the time of this decision:

• Over 170 runners had already registered for the Unidos 5K.

• More than 35 organizations, nonprofits, businesses, and companies had already committed to participating in the parade.

• Over 20 sponsors and supporters had stepped forward to help bring this vision to life.

The level of community support made one thing very clear:

Our community is ready for these events.

For all registered participants, refund requests will officially open on our website beginning Monday. Participants will also have the option to convert their registration into a charitable contribution supporting Chingón Legacy’s community programs, cultural initiatives, and future events. Donation confirmations for tax purposes will be provided at the end of the year.

Additionally, our sponsors and partners will be contacted directly beginning Monday regarding available options and next steps.

We also want to make one thing absolutely clear:This is not a cancellation.This is a rescheduling.

We remain fully committed to bringing both the Unidos 5K and Desfile Latino to Downtown Indianapolis with stronger timelines, improved coordination, and the collaborative support necessary to execute these events successfully.

While this process became increasingly difficult due to circumstances outside of our organization’s control, we are proud of the work our team, volunteers, supporters, and partners accomplished over the past several months.

Chingón Legacy will continue moving forward in its mission to build pathways, representation, economic opportunity, and culturally rooted community impact across Indiana.
